DENVER -Every child deserves the chance to be successful at school. Sometimes that’s as simple as giving them the right tools; like new notebooks, pencils and calculators. That’s why KidsGiving365 teamed up with KOOL105 Radio and people across Colorado in August, 2017, and Made it KOOL to go Back to School.
During the event, families, groups and businesses bought back-to-school supplies for students living in poverty in the Denver Housing projects. People either made a donation online or met the child they gave school supplies to in person. That’s pretty KOOL.
The event happened on August 5, 2017 at the South Lowell Community Center, 4725 South Lowell Blvd., Denver, CO 80211.
People served children living in the Denver Housing Authority. Statistics show 80% of the residents there live in poverty. More than half of the residents are younger than 15 years old.
When children volunteer, studies show they learn kindness, respect and empathy. They also do better in school, and are less likely to become pregnant and try drugs. KidsGiving365 is creating the next generation of givers.
