You might say 8-year-old Lillie is wise beyond her years. She devotes a good majority of her time thinking about what other people need, and then taking action to help them.
“I give because I want to make other people feel happy no matter where they live or who they are. It makes me feel happy too that I can help them,” she said.
For two years, Lillie and her family have participated in KidsGiving365‘s holiday event called Santa’s Elves, where they gave gifts to other children in Denver who wouldn’t otherwise have had any presents for Christmas.
The Denver student also created “blessing bags” for the homeless, and then hand-delivered them to those in need.
Now, she’s learned that some children living in the Denver Housing Authority need sneakers. So, she’s started a shoe drive at her school to raise 150 pairs of new tennis shoes. Her mom is proud of her daughter, who is now an ambassador for KidsGiving365.
“I am so proud of how deeply Lillie cares about the needs of others in our community. KidsGiving365 has shown her that even small efforts can impact other kids in big ways, and I am so moved that she wants to pass those values on to her friends and classmates as well!” Said her mom.
The shoes will be handed out to young people in the South Lowell Community Center on August 5, 2017 during KidsGiving365’s Back-to-School event. Lillie is collecting shoes of every size, from toddlers through teens, so that every student will have a new pair of shoes, just like other kids in their classrooms.
If you want to help Lillie and donate a new pair of shoes, please email us at Contact@KidsGiving365.org and we’ll connect you with her right away.
