Fifth graders at Summit View Elementary spent a year getting to know kindergartners in a lower income school, then built them bikes and gave them to their new buddies, as part of a Wish for Wheels Program. Their teacher says her students made a real impact on the younger students at Sedalia Elementary, and learned compassion at the same time.
“Compassion is hard to teach unless you have a real authentic reason,” said Jill Sinclair, fifth-grade teacher at Summit View Elementary.
