It’s hard to change a neighborhood, especially one that has suffered for so long. But it appears change is headed to the Sun Valley neighborhood.

Recent river improvements and the opening of the West Rail Line prompted Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock to single out the neighborhood in his July 15 State of the City Address.

“With the opening of the West Rail Line, Denver’s Sun Valley neighborhood is ripe to receive significant investment — investment that will reconnect this area to the rest of the city and rejuvenate our most economically challenged neighborhood with new jobs, housing and riverfront projects,” Hancock said that day.
